1) Workshops Februar/März - *Special
Filmkritik Mit Filmen denken und schreiben
23. - 25. Februar
Dozentin: Wenke Wegner
Teiln.: 10 - 20, Kursgeb.: 80,- / 60,- erm.
Was heißt Filmkritik? Filme bewerten, Daumen hoch, Daumen runter?
Was haben

2) Visiting Artist: Curtis Burz
- Gespräche, Präsentationen, Diskussionen
Mo, 26. Februar, 19.30 Uhr
Curtis Burz
Re:Konstruktion
Eintritt frei.

3) Berlinale Weltpremière: The "Halfmoon Files" von Philipp Scheffner
Philip Scheffner folgt in seiner knapp 90minütigen experimentellen Spurensuche

Mon January 26th, 7.30 pm.
Curtis Burz
Re:Construction
Curtis Burz' current film project reflects his fascination for life's
dramas beyond the narrative. From old, at times mysteriously looking
images, found texts and memories he reconstructs life histories and
artist biographies that also thematise lived through breaks with taboos.
His filmic approach is based on the methods of Stanislawski, Vassiliy
und Grotowski, with other words he uses solely improvised scenes and
interviews, sketches and drafts. Curtis Burz shows exerts from his
"re:constructed" portraits and presents selection of his works as a film
author and director.

Presentation of the book: Networking | The Net as an Artwork
@ Transmediale, Sunday 4/2, 16:00, Salon
Akademie der Kuenste, Berlin, D
http://www.transmediale.de/site/salon+M5aa228131cd.html
moderated by: Diana McCarty [de]
with Tatiana Bazzichelli [it/de], Jaromil [it/nl], Gaia Novati [it/de]
Networking | The Net as an Artwork
Written by Tatiana Bazzichelli, with the preface of Derrick De Kerckhove
and the epilogue of the Italian videoartist Simonetta Fadda.
http://www.networkingart.eu
The book represents a first tentative to write a comprehensive history
of both analog and digital subcultural networked art in Italy, through
an analysis of the realities which during the past twenty years have
given way to a creative, shared and aware use of technologies - such as
Mail Art, Neoism, the Luther Blissett project, BBS culture, Telestreets,
and many other subcultural movements and networks.
The Italian network proposes a form of critical information, diffused
through independent and collective projects. Active in underground
environments, they use diverse media (computers, video, television,
radio and magazines) and deal with technological experimentation, or
hacktivism, depending on the terminology used in Italy, where the
political component is a central theme.
The book describes how in Italian subculture there was never a divide
between artistic and political activism, covering the evolution of the
Italian net culture from the Eighties till today. The book shelds light
onto the affinity of 1980s Mail Art manifesto to post-1990s Internet
culture, up to its terminology of artists as "network operators" and art
as a "network-web", the political redefinition of the term "Cyberpunk"
in early 1990s in Italy, the mutation of Cyberfeminism into Netporn
activism, and presents the works of many artists and activists, such as
0100101110101101.ORG, [epidemiC], Jaromil, Giacomo Verde, Giovanotti
Mondani Meccanici, Correnti Magnetiche, Candida TV, Tommaso Tozzi,
Federico Bucalossi, Massimo Contrasto, Mariano Equizzi, Pigreca,
Molleindustria, Guerriglia Marketing, Sexyshock, Phag Off and many others.
Networking | The Net as an Artwork, is printed on paper (Costa & Nolan
publisher, Milan, Novembrer 2006, pag. 336), but it is also available

three free voices on life after capitalism
This was the week of the world forums. The World Economic Forum 2007 in
Davos started on January 24 and will last until Monday 28, 2007. This
annual meeting is characterized by growing business participation. This
year 800 of the 2,400 participants are chief executives or chairmen.
The participants will address this year’s theme “The Shifting Power
Equation”.
The theme of the 7th annual World Social Forum this week in Nairobi was
“People’s Struggles, People’s Alternatives”. The World Social Forum is
expanding democratic spaces for those seeking concrete, sustainable and
progressive alternatives to globalization.
Both conferences triggered us to think about the question: “What’s
after capitalism?” Take a look at how some of our participants at
September’s Table of Free Voices answered the question. Then share your
own thoughts on the subject on www.droppingknowledge.org
Anthony Arnove is one of the most fearless of the younger generation of
American cultural commentator and activitists.

Anuradha Mittal is the founder and director of The Oakland Institute, a
policy think tank dedicated to key social, economic, environmental and
foreign policy issues.

Mohau Pheko established Motheo Integrity Consultants to deliver
economic and social research to parliamentarians, women’s organisations
and civil servants.

Over 100 more answers to this question can be found in The Table of
Free Voices Archive. Also be sure to check out how Table participants
answered questions like “Why is it socially acceptable to hoard wealth
while so many go without basic needs?” or “Does our wealth depend on
the 3rd world being poor?”
dropping knowledge in 2007
dropping knowledge invites you to stay active and drop your knowledge
in 2007. We are planning many exciting events and projects for this
year. A documentary film about the Table of Free Voices event will be
produced and more Tables are in the works. Stay tuned for more details.
